Lara Polak

Lara Polak is a fourth year doctoral student within Language and Literacy in Elementary Education at the University of Alberta. As a previous elementary educator of fifteen years, Lara completed both a diploma program and course-based master’s degree within Language and Literacy in Elementary Education at the University of Alberta. Her proposed doctoral research examines English Language Arts education in Alberta from the Bakhtinian perspective of dialogism, with a focus on oracy and how oracy is enacted in classrooms. As a mother of two young children, she is also interested in digital literacy and how ever-changing definitions of literacy are translated into classrooms as well as English Language Arts curriculum and pedagogy.
